- My name is Elna Louw and I live in the middle of the African bush on a copper mine site in Lumwana, Zambia. My husband Pierre is the Finance Director for the project. We are South African and have been expating since 2000. Over the past 9 years we have lived in Tanzania, Australia and now Zambia. Before we left SA I was employed by Ernst & Young Johannesburg as a Project Manager. I loved my job but being out here in the middle of nowhere (or is it the centre of the universe) is fantastic. This blog is about my life here.

Antie Poppie, You know, I really miss having you around! You and Kobus must come and visit us. For those of you who don't know, ANTIE POPPIE is our name for Henriette. We were in the Serengeti together a few years ago and Henriette and I went to the loo and on our return to where Pierre and Kobus were sitting, Pierre said "Ah, here is Poppie and Antie Poppie" - (Pierre always calls me "Poppie") so now we are "Poppie" and "Antie Poppie" - and yes - it is Antie not Auntie. (Poppie is Afrikaans for "small doll" so I guess that makes Henriette an "old(er) small doll"?).
