I just could not let photos like this go to waste. Darren Burggraaff came across this slicker at Malundwe. Aparently it was quite feisty. The guys recon it might be a cat-eyed tree snake.
Your right my dad is strange with his love of snakes. I'm Skye Burggraaff, Darren's daughter and came across your blog. My mother left for Africa yesterday so you will not doubt meet her soon. I think that your blog is great, and of course these photos are amazing. Well done. ~Skye
Hi Skye, thanks for your lovely comment and apologies for only replying now. I was away on leave for a month. We are very lucky to have people like your Dad around to help us "make it all work" as we have an obligation to do what we can to ensure our environment is protected as much as possible. Luckily my three personal encounters with snakes all ended well so I don't mind having them around too much, as long as they don't enter "my space". I'm looking forward to meeting your Mom and you should also come and visit soon. Keep well in the meantime.
My name is Elna Louw and I live in the middle of the African bush on a copper mine site in Lumwana, Zambia. My husband Pierre is the Finance Director for the project. We are South African and have been expating since 2000. Over the past 9 years we have lived in Tanzania, Australia and now Zambia. Before we left SA I was employed by Ernst & Young Johannesburg as a Project Manager. I loved my job but being out here in the middle of nowhere (or is it the centre of the universe) is fantastic. This blog is about my life here.
